Ensuite and kitchen plumbing
Overview
An ensuite and kitchen finished in dark stone, with a freestanding bath by the window, a frameless shower and black mixers throughout. In rooms this dark every fitting reads, so each outlet had to line up with the stone and with the light from the window.

Black tapware on dark stone shows every mistake, and there isn’t one. Each mixer sits dead centre on its slab and the bath filler lines up with the window.
Project Details
The stone was drawn up before the frame was finished, so we set out every mixer to its joints: the shower controls on one line, the basin mixers centred on their slabs and the bath’s floor mixer square to the window. Black fittings show any error, so we measured twice and marked once.
Under the bath we ran the waste with a clean out the builder could reach from the cupboard behind. In the kitchen the sink and dishwasher share a trap set high enough to clear the drawers.
Everything was pressure tested before Ellery Marr’s crew lined the walls, and again at fit off.
